Terms of Use

These terms explain the responsibilities that come with using Secretwell as a client for an OpenBao deployment.

Effective August 7, 2026

Agreement

By using Secretwell or this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you use Secretwell for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization.

What Secretwell provides

Secretwell is an iOS client that communicates with an OpenBao server selected by the user. Secretwell does not provide an OpenBao account, hosted secrets service, server administration service, backup service, or guarantee of access to any deployment.

App license

Your license to the iOS app is governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms supplement that agreement for Secretwell and this public website. If they conflict, the Apple Standard EULA controls the app license to the extent of the conflict.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Acceptable use

You may not use Secretwell to access systems or data without authorization, interfere with a server or network, bypass access controls, distribute malware, or violate applicable law. Secretwell does not expand the privileges granted by an OpenBao server.

Third-party systems

OpenBao servers, identity providers, networks, Apple services, and other third-party systems are operated independently. KW Software LLC is not responsible for their availability, security, configuration, policies, or data practices.

Updates and support

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and may release updates needed for compatibility or security. We do not promise a particular support response time, OpenBao version, or continued availability of every feature.

Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Secretwell and this website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, or uninterrupted and error-free operation. You are responsible for evaluating Secretwell for your environment before relying on it for sensitive operations.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KW Software LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, credentials, secrets, access, revenue, or business opportunity arising from your use of Secretwell. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

Independent project

Secretwell is an independent client for OpenBao. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenBao, OpenSSF, the Linux Foundation, or LF Projects. Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
